Archbishop Tomash Peta

Tomash Bernard Peta was born on August 20, 1951 in Inowroclaw (Poland). He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1976 in Gniezno, From 1990 parish priest in Ozernoje - North - Kazakhstan Region. From August 1999 an Apostolic Administrator in Astana. On 19 Мarch 2001 he received his bishop ordination in Rome. On 17th May 2003 John Paul II elevated the apostolic administration of Astana to archdiocese with the name "Archdiocese of the Mary Most Holy in Astana. and appointed Bishop Tomasz Peta as first archbishop, metropolitan of Astana. He was elected a president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Kazakhstan on May 19, 2003. |
