A group of people of Roman Catholic religion settled in Kostanay in the first decade of our century. In 1913 the document of the Mogilev diocese mentioned the catholic communities such as a chapel in Kostanay, the houses for prayer in Voskresenovka, Osernoe, Semenovka, Nelubinka, Vikentjevka, Stepnoe, Pridorodgnoe and Turgenevka villages. According to the document there were about 6 thousand Catholics on the territory of Kostanay parish and above mentioned villages. Two priests Fr. Joseph Wolf and Fr. Adam Garace served to the believers there since 1912.
For a short time the Holy Mass was led every day in Kostanay. The Mass was for Poles in the chapel, which was situated in Polish House. The priest Lushitsku who had come to Kostanay with a delegate of Polish embassy led it. On January 6, 1942 the chapel was abolished.
In 40th numerous groups of German deportees from Volga region, the Crimea and Ukraine came to Kostanay region. The priests coming from different parts of Soviet Union: Baltic region, Karaganda (Fr. Wladyslaw Bukowinski), Taiynsha (Fr. Aloisy Kaszuba) and Frunse (Fr. Michael Keller) served to numerous catholic believers in the years of savage persecutions and fight with religion.
In 1967 Fr. Albinas Dumblayskas SJ came to Kostanay from Lithuania and served to the believers of this region for 3 years. Sisters from congregation of Jesus votaries in Eucharist came to help in catechization. Local community met in the house, which had been bought, with their money in 1965. Since April of 1973 Fr. Alexander Ben was the prior. In spring of 1991 Fr. Krzysztof Kukulka came to help Fr. Alexander Ben. In 1991 Fr. Alexander went to Poland and died there in Przemysl on June 1, 1991. After Fr. Alexander's death Fr. Krzysztof worked in Kostanay about 2 months and then went to Tashkent. There was not the priest about a year in the parish till Fr. Lutsian Rosul arrived.
The visit of Bishop Jan Paul Lenga in August of 1993 was a great event in the life of the parishioners. The bishop led the sacrament of anointment in 3 places: in Kostanay he anointed 90 people, in Semiosernoe he anointed 6 parishioners and in Lisacovsk he anointed 40 parishioners. He also had meetings with the believers in the palaces of culture in Rudniy, Tobol, Ordgonikidze, Dgetigar, in cemeteries in Osernoe, Voskresenovka, Oktabrskoe, Novolinovka, Sulukul, and Glazunovka.
In October of 1993 three new priests: Fr. Jerzy Cyrul, Fr. Zbigniew Beskur and Fr. Slawomir Olech and seminarist Wojciech Mazur from the congregation of Missionaries of Mother La-Salett arrived in Kostanay. In December Fr. Zbignew Beskur moved in Lisakovsk, Fr. Slawomir Olech went to Voskresenovka village. In autumn of 1995 Sister Teresa Michalovska from congregation of Family of Mary came to Kostanay and in spring of 1997 Sister Elzbieta Gonsiewska joined her.
Thanks to prior the parish got a site to build a church which was dedicated by bishop Jan Pawel Lega on April 16, 1994. Dedication took place during recollection for priests of Apostolic Administration, which was in Kostanay that time.
In February of 1996 Fr. Lucjan Rosól left the parish and Fr. Jerzy Cyrul took his place. Fr. Slavomir Olech joined him.
In autumn of 1996 general prior of the congregation of Mother La-Salett
Missionaries Isidro Parren visited the parish. The visit of Our Lady of
Fatima statue in May of 1997 was a great event for the parish. In autumn
of 1996 building works were begun. Since Palm Sunday of 1998 the public
worships were led in the new church. On September 20, 1998 Bishop Jan Paul
Lenga decided it. Since autumn of the 1996 new movement "Way of the catechization"
began its work.
On September 16, 1998 priest Fr. Fryderyk Przybycien came from Poland.
